How to pick a photographer

"How to pick a photographer: Personality is important. There is no doubt about that. And you're going to want to go with a Photographer that makes you feel like a friend. You will spend more time with that person on your wedding day than you will your future spouse, so finding somebody you connect with is crucial. But that's not all that goes into it. Because once the day is over, it will be your relationship with your Photographs, not your Photographer, that will become the most important thing. Did these images capture the feelings and emotion of the day? Can you look at them and feel like you're right back in that moment? Are they authentic? Did they capture life as it happened. Are they enduring? Will they become iconic and nostalgic? Or will they just become the "heads in the brandy snifter" shots of our generation. You want images that you will fall in love with over and over again for the next 50 or 60 years. Images that your grandchildren will be proud to put in silver frames. The last thing you want is for someone to look at your pictures and say, "So I see you go married in 2011." You want something that leaves behind a legacy. A history. That documents the start of life together. Something that will stand the test of time. Just like the two of you."

Ayana | Gillette, Wyoming Maternity Photographer

Ayana is at about 34 weeks pregnant, which means she doesn't have long to wait to meet her first baby girl. Ayana was full of nervous giggles at the beginning of the photo session, but I guided her through the session with some simple poses and she soon became comfortable in front of the camera. Her maternity session took place in the studio and we got several different looks from just a few simple clothing items that she brought.

I love the simple and elegant black skirt and black top that Ayana chose for her session. We we're going to use a maternity wrap for Ayana's session, but I thought this outfit she brought was just perfect for the expecting mama!

Why? | Wyoming Photographer

Why? That is the question. The question that children will ask over and over. Why is the sky blue? Why do zebras have stripes? Why is the grass green? Ok, you get the point, but have you ever stopped and asked yourself why you do what you do?

So, why do you get up in the morning? What drives you? Why did you choose to be ___?

I started asking myself why I love being a fine art photographer. I am passionate about creating memories for you because moments in our lives are so fleeting and if I can help you capture these fleeting moments for you to cherish forever then it warms my heart.

The expecting mama, the tiny newborn, the bride on her wedding day are all fleeting moments that deserve to be captured in the most beautiful, authentic way possible.

I truly want to provide you with timeless images of emotions, connections, and the sweet innocence of new beginnings to remember and cherish this time in history.

What's your why? Comment below!

Why should I custom frame my portraits? | Gillette, Wyoming Photographer

I am happy to offer clients several stunning frame styles to choose from. Each museum quality frame comes with an archival mat to add a polished finishing touch to your favorite portraits.

All portrait clients receive a complimentary custom wall design consult following their session. Using the latest technology, I am able to show you what your framed wall display will look like on YOUR walls with YOUR images. It takes the guess work out of ordering so that you can be confident in your investment.

I also would like to take the time to explain the importance of museum-quality frames and professional archival mats. You can absolutely go to a store such as Target or HomeGoods, and pick up a very inexpensive frames for your favorite session portraits.

It is however crucial to note that your image will not last a long time in those frames. When framed this way, the print emulsion will come in contact with the glass over time. The photograph will most likely stick to it permanently, ruining the appearance and you will be unable to remove the photograph from the frame in the future. You are most likely able to think of childhood photographs of your own that this has happened to. The mats and backing of the frame that you can pick up in everyday stores are also not usually acid-free and very rarely archival. This means that over time these parts of the frame will release chemicals into the print causing results like fading and color changes.

I offer museum quality products to you because I want your photographs to become their Heirlooms. I want the framed portraits I offer my clients to be the same timeless, perfect frame that is hung in their grandchildren's homes someday. There are many reasons for investing in the custom photography experience, and this is most definitely one of them.

Just as it matters where your images are printed, it matters how they are framed and displayed to ensure lasting quality. It is my passion to see you adore your portrait not just on your Facebook, but on the walls of your home for generations.
